The ripples of the ocean tide throw me from side to side
The dark of the night swallows me whole while I fight the burning inside.
Jot thoughts down, question yourself, make a move
A gratitude list, ask for help, now that would be smooth.
Depression may cause sleep problems, and sleep problems may contribute to depressive disorders. The double-edged sword. Swallow it down.
Drifting, falling, shaking, bawling.
Too social, to social misfit in just the spread of one wing.
Keep that journal, meditate, search and find.
Seek and boost your feelings of desire and make your want to live burn like fire.
They have allowed us to feel things again.
We’ve been on and we’ve been off,
we’re not lights, we’re humans and the on and off are the antidepressants since diagnosis.
We all think we have our own cure,
So for short spurts, we try to be pure.
What seeps out from between our seams
are all our skeletons from our battered dreams.
Raked over the coals and burning in hell,
our brains are on fire and all others do is yell.
Allow us to function, to be human again.
We’re slow in the mornings but then it kicks in.
Depression can make you so painfully numb,
rob you of feelings, have you coming undone.
When will you all get, we are the puppets who are strung,
Dance for me brain cells, dance just for fun.
We’ve dealt with it chronically, we couldn’t cope on our own.
But one little thing we’ve found one on one.
We all have a limit when we’re coming undone.
