The Shelf by Crimson Quintessence

A lifetime guarantees

That’s what you offered to me

Fear they neighbour they warned,

Who knew, I’d become the untouched lover scorned.

Coming undone at the seams,

Wakefulness with silent screams.

I wanted revenge at the end,

Knowing your words were all for pretend.

You cut through my heart like a knife,

Taking precious time from my very short life.

A lesson learned in the end,

I’ve been well on the mend.

Finding out who I really am,

Far away from your touch, I ran.

I am the girl standing tall,

No longer hiding behind my perfectly built wall.

Rid my self from all of your sorrows.

I look forward to all my tomorrows.

My stand-still all went away,

I look forward to each and every day.

Working on myself is what’s important,

Finding meaning and moving forward.

My guarantee, to myself.

Put the bad memories in a jar on the shelf.
